Artwork Description
This experimental landscape is done with acrylic ink on plastic Yupo paper. The work captures my love of the colour combination of blue & orange as well as my fascination with the countries of the Baltics. I love the meditative and unpredictable results of using acrylic ink.
Tell us about yourself as an artist
I am originally from the USA where I studied art history and painting in uni. I spent 4 years living in Japan before calling Australia home in 2008. I have always been an artist and never tire of experimenting with media and image.
I am inspired by symbols and design from various countries and time periods such as ancient Mexico, Tibet, Japan and Native American. I love playing with shapes, colour and media to create interesting images. Recently I have been looking to nature for inspiration such as birds and landscape. I work in a variety of media such as acrylic, acrylic ink, alcohol pens, alcohol ink, watercolor and oil pastel. I know I will never stop making art and I am excited to get to share some of my works with others along the way.

What are your creative dreams or goals?
My goal as a visual artist is just to keep making art! I make art mainly for myself, enjoying the process and enjoying looking at the final product – something that has never been seen before. I have also recently been turning my creative attention to writing and have a dream of publishing a historical fiction/memoir someday. My ultimate goal in life is to have purpose and contentment and art helps me to do that.
What does “becoming a star” mean to you?
I believe that I am already a star!! I enjoy being recognized for my creative endeavours and it feels great to see people inspired by what I have created. I guess maybe that is what ‘becoming a star’ means to me: having confidence and purpose and seeing the positive effects my work has on the people and community around me.
